These are awesome photos taken from the air by a famous french photographer Yann Arthus Bertrand (YAB). He pratically travelling around the globe to take picture airborne. The result are awesome! I really love his approach to the natural life and the way he express his photography. But thats me. However, these are the reason why you might love him too.
1. Author of 80+ books
YAB spend most of his life doing what he love the most, photography. This man is truly inspirational. Since he published his first book titled “Lion” in 1981 which contains the everyday life of lions in Kenya, he has been publishing more than 80 books to date. Now that number is big! I’m sure only a handful of most hardworking photographer could publish that many images.
2. The Earth From Above series
All the images in this blog post is taken from the series. This is where YAB truly shine. This series now contain 500,000 photograph from over 100 countries around the world, now thats insane! In his website one could find a shot classified by continent and region, complete with the latitude and longitude of the place, just incase you want to visit the place. He also writes a paragraph of caption about the place. All other photographer should follow his commitment. (including the future me, haha).
3. The GoodPlanet.org
He does not only enjoy photographing the beauty of mother earth, but he also fights through his non-profit organization to heighten public awareness of our world’s issues and promote sustainable development. A paragraph from the website:
Over the past 50 years, mankind has modified the planet quicker and more extensively than in any comparable period of time in human history. Forests, oceans, and wetlands among other ecosystems, suffer the consequences of constant anthropic pressure. At this critical stage, the alternative offered by a sustainable development policy should help bringing about the necessary changes in order to « meet the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. » Each and every one of us can and must act and contribute to the future of both mankind and the Earth starting now.
4. Free Wallpapers!
Now enlighten me, how many photographer actually take a awesomely stunning images and gives it out for free! Tell you the truth: not many. A lot of photographer focuses on making money from their photograph, but this guy, does the exact opposite. Meh, kudos for you sir YAB.
