Wise peoples always say that we have to accept criticism with open mind and we have to see and understand where the comment comes from.
Sometimes we get good criticism to help us, sometimes we are met with cynicism to destroy us.
Its easy to deal with constructive criticism. I love them. I usually ask for them when I post my photos online. Especially if they are sugar coated with nice compliments. You can listen to this with open mind and learn from it, and be happy at the same time.
With the advent of the internet, most of the time its not construcive. Just look at youtube comments, it is utterly abysmal. People now can hide behind the curtain of anonimity to speak what they normally wouldn’t say to your face.
My tip on handling this kind of comments is just to ignore them or delete them and move on.
Then there is another type of comment that is a little harder to accept. It is those who use nice words. They use metaphors, questions, sarcasm and wordplay to say negative comment. These are the negative comments that are made in the open without you asking for it.
I can’t really ignore this type. Usually I send them private messages to explain my position and reasoning, and thank them for the comment. Most of the time they are shocked with your positive respond and change their stance on you. You can potentially gain another fan!
The key is to be always positive and always follow your passion.
